The TXL custom build has got me reading around the subject of rod building, and exploring other materials including fibreglass. Have just finished reading Ed Engle's Splitting Cane for the second time, and about to start Fishing Bamboo from John Gierach. I'm hoping to visit Mark Leggett at the Alternative Tackle Co later this week, where I'll be able to see Luke Bannister's latest build:

The typical leadtime on Luke's rods is 16 weeks. This 6' 10" rod (for a 4/5 weight, hollow built and nodeless, based on a Leonard taper) is available now at the Alternative Tackle Company.
I plan to follow Luke's lead and use transparent wrappings, untipped on the the Prayer Stick.
